Brentford Football Club’s ambition to develop a new home for the club will reach another milestone at the end of this month when they submit their planning application to Hounslow Council for their consideration and decision.

Key elements of the application being submitted will go on show to the public. The exhibition will provide local residents with the opportunity to view the work that has included discussion with local groups, supporters and statutory consultees.

As previously reported, Brentford Football Club is planning to move from its existing stadium at Griffin Park to a new purpose built community stadium at Lionel Road South. The detailed and outline planning applications plans provide a modern, good quality 20,000 capacity stadium set within a new mixed use development masterplan that includes over 900 flats.

The plans will be on show and members of the development team on hand to answer local residents’ questions, on:

Dates: Friday 31st May, 2.30pm – 6.30pm
Saturday 1st June, 10.30am-1.30pm
Venue: Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre, Chiswick High Road

Brian Burgess, Director of Lionel Road Developments Limited, said:
“We accept this is a challenging and complex application. For the past 8 months the project team has been working very hard and we have been engaging with a wide range of local residents and others and we believe we have done as much as we can to balance the concerns some of them have with our financial needs to raise the necessary funds to build a multi-purpose new stadium.”

“Our application has three main objectives: first to secure the long term sustainability of Brentford Football Club ; second to provide a new home for the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust charity and its Learning Zone and thirdly to create impetus and assistance in the wider regeneration of this part of Brentford.”

“We believe these proposals will bring a wide range of community benefits to the local area and the borough.”
