An Isleworth flat used as a drugs den has been shut down after magistrates approved a closure application from Hounslow Council.

The council applied for a Nuisance Premises Closure Order to close the flat in Winterborne House, Union Lane, Twickenham Road, following complaints of anti-social behaviour and evidence of drugs dealing and use.

It was the first time such an order has been applied for in Hounslow.

Cllr Richard Foote, cabinet member for community protection, said: “We’re determined to protect residents’ quality of life and will always act on information regarding unacceptable behaviour.

“We want people to enjoy living in Hounslow and be proud of where they live. Behaviour which makes people feel unsafe will simply not be tolerated.”

Hounslow Borough Commander Carl Bussey said: "Successful closures are often the result of information received from our local communities. Police and partners will respond vigorously to such information to ensure Hounslow residents and business communities are protected."

The social housing flat has been sealed and will be closed for at least three months.

You can report anti-social behaviour in confidence on 020 8583 2503 or you can e-mail the Community Safety Team at community.safety@hounslow.gov.uk
