A total transformation of the outdoor, on-site sporting facilities at Brentford School happened over July and August this year. The pupils from Brentford School for Girls returned to school at the start of the new academic year to an impressive, new and highly enviable all-weather Astro turf sports area.

Sport is an important part of the curriculum at Brentford School for Girls. It builds character and encourages resilience, perseverance, confidence and teamwork. The new sporting facility will help Brentford School for Girl’s students to maintain energy and strength and improve mental sharpness and stamina. The new Astro turf also ensures the PE department are able to deliver consistent and outstanding sports lessons and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, all year round, whatever the weather.

The site was part funded from the London Borough of Hounslow's CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy), alongside a donation received from Brentford Football club.

The official opening of the site was on Monday 2nd of December. The school welcomed the support of Elle Bloor, Harlequins International female rugby player, Alan Walsh, Operations Director Brentford Football Club, Joe Hardy and Josh Clarke team players from Brentford Football Club, Liz Gers and Paul Chambers from the school’s Governing Body and Councillor Guy Lambert from London Borough of Hounslow.

The Head teacher from Brentford School for Girls, Ms Marais Leenders, is excited about this year’s new venture. ‘The girls absolutely love sport and this highly functional facility brings them new and even more varied sporting opportunities in all types of weather!’

The sporting facility will also soon be open for community use during the week. For booking enquiries, please contact the school directly.
