Brentford's farmers market is to go weekly from June 4th.

The market began in October last year following suggestions made to Labour GLA candidate Seema Malhotra and received a good reaction from local people.

The decision to begin holding the market on a weekly basis was taken after consultation with shoppers and market traders.

"The overwhelming opinion was that we needed to hold the market every week" organiser Matt Harmer said. "People told us that they shop every week and would buy the great fresh vegetables, organic bread and other great food from the market if we were here".

The weekly markets will begin on Saturday June 4th.

There are also plans to expand the number of stalls - and it won't be just food. "There'll be more food stalls than ever before" said Matt. "But we'd like to invite local artists and craftsmen to sell their wares and offer their services. The market can become the focal point of our community".

The Market takes place between 9am and 1pm at the Brentford Health Centre on Boston Manor Road, opposite Brentford Station. For more information call 020 8560 7033 or email BrentfordMarket@aol.com.
