The threat to the Brent Lea Recreation Ground appears to have receded as a new temporary location has been found for the site of a new local primary school.

Floreat Brentford has agreed to locate its temporary site at Trico House, located within the Great West Quarter development on Ealing Road. The two-form entry school will remain at this site for two years, while options for a permanent site are explored.

Floreat Brentford was approved as a free school in September 2014, and is one of Floreat’s two primary schools.

Local campaigner Joanna Russell said, 'Although we are relieved that the temporary site for Floreat School is no longer on Brent Lea Recreation ground, it is still crucial that the council do not appropriate our rec. Our petition with 1,333 signatures are being handed in to the council this afternoon.'

Commenting on the news, James O’Shaughnessy, Managing Director of Floreat Education, said: “I am delighted that Floreat Brentford’s temporary site has been resolved. Our entire team has worked incredibly hard to ensure that this school opens in September, and we look forward to welcoming our first Reception children to the school.”

“We are as committed as ever to providing Brentford with an outstanding new primary school. I am confident that this will be achieved under the leadership of Aisling McKeever, our Head of School, and Janet Hilary, our Executive Principal, who both bring a wealth of experience, passion and dedication to Floreat Brentford.”
