Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a house fire on Albany Road in Brentford last night.

Fire engines arriving later found the end of Albany Road blocked and had to enter Morrisons car park and turn back down Alexandra Road but then could not access Albany Road from the other end as it was already blocked by other emergency vehicles.

Part of the first floor was damaged by the fire.

A woman and five children left the property before the Brigade arrived.

A teenage boy was suffering from smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Fire Brigade was called at 2203 and the fire was under control by 2259.

Fire crews from Chiswick, Heston and Acton fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
