The Mulberry Centre, supporting those touched by cancer

The Mulberry Centre is calling on individuals, offices, schools and social groups across the borough to take part in the second Great Big Get Together (GBGT) in March 2014. This year we have earmarked 28 March for GBGT but you could pick another day if that works for you! The Great Big Get Together is a chance for you to take time out, have a chat and fundraise for local people affected by cancer.

Last March, friends, work colleagues and class mates organised events across Hounslow and Richmond to raise money for The Mulberry Centre as part of the Great Big Get Together. The event was a great success for cake maker Jay from Jay’s Clever Cakes, Isleworth, who raffled off a special Easter cake. Jay said: “The Mulberry Centre is a fantastic local charity that supports so many lives affected by cancer, which I’m sure many of us can relate to. Organising the event was really simple and helped us reach a new audience with our cakes! It was great to know that the money we raised would help towards providing counselling sessions for someone undergoing chemotherapy. This year we are hoping to beat the £116 we raised by holding a tea party in March 2014.”

The Mulberry Centre is a local, independent charity that provides practical and emotional support for cancer patients, their families and carers. They also support anyone who has been bereaved through cancer.  All the money raised from the Great Big Get Together will help The Mulberry Centre continue to provide support to people like Brenda from Isleworth: “The Mulberry Centre helped me enormously when I had breast cancer. Being able to get together with others in a similar position to me was invaluable in staying positive at a very difficult time".
