Feltham Borstal and Its History is the topic for the first lecture in 2015 of Hounslow and District History Society.  The meeting will take place at the United Reformed Church Hall, Chapel Road, Hounslow on Tuesday 27 January 2015 at the slightly earlier time of 7.45pm. The lecturer is Mr James Marshall, Local Studies Librarian, Hounslow.

Mr Marshall will describe the history of Feltham’s Middlesex Industrial School and its successors from 1859-2014. There will be a vivid portrayal of a boy’s life in the Industrial School in the 1890s, with contemporary images.

This illustrated talk by Mr Marshall will be all the more fascinating as the institution has recently been in the news, there is the series on ITV entitled “Bring Back Borstal” and many local people have or have had contacts with it, as, for example, employees or Friends. Everyone is welcome at £2.00 each for non-members.
