Thirty-five new rooftop allotments have been launched at Brentford Lock West. They were officially opened on Saturday 28th May during a party attended by local MP Ruth Cadbury, which included an interactive workshop by innovative urban farm Cultivate London.

Situated on the roof top of Carrick Square, a collection of apartments and townhouses set around a landscaped communal garden, the allotments will be managed by the Cultivate team, who have been growing a range of fresh produce on site at Brentford Lock West since building work first began.

They will run a demonstration allotment throughout the year along with monthly workshops to inspire residents to make the most of their space and be on hand to offer advice and guidance when needed.

John Robinson, Development Director at Brentford Lock West, said: “The demand for allotments continues to outstrip supply, as more people look for the opportunity to ‘grow their own’. There are over 28 allotment sites available across the London Borough of Hounslow, all of which have waiting lists, so we’re excited to see our allotments become lively and productive part of life in Brentford. We are committed to providing a variety of usable community spaces that foster a positive community spirit and can be enjoyed by residents for years to come.”

Adrienne Attorp, General Manager at Cultivate London, added: “Using our specialist expertise we are really looking forward to helping new residents maximise their green space and benefit from the health and happiness that allotment gardening can bring!”

To enquire about an allotment, please register with the Estate Manager at Brentford Lock West by emailing estatemanager@brentfordlockwest.co.uk. Allotments will be on a year's licence with a fee of £150 per annum.
