Christian Tabis, 20 of Brentford was sentenced last Friday to six months imprisonment at Kingston Crown Court having pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. He was also disqualified from driving for two years.

Tabis was driving an Audi A4 along Church Road, Mitcham on 20 September 2010 when he was in collision with a 31-year old woman as she crossed the road. At the time of the collision he was overtaking a stationary car and bus, was the wrong side of a keep left traffic island and driving in excess of the speed limit.

Detective Sergeant John Hartfree, from the Metropolitan Police Service's Road Death Investigation Unit, said: "The sentence given to Tabis sends out a clear message to anyone who drives dangerously. This is a very sad case, the victim, a 31-year old woman from Mitcham received very serious injuries and has not recovered from this incident. She requires ongoing treatment."
