On the 12th October 2010 Brentford Library's alarm was set off in the early hours of the morning.

The Security Guard turned up in response to the alarm. As he got out of his vehicle he saw someone jump over the side fence and run away from the Library.

The description of this person is a white male between the ages of 20-25 years old, bald and wearing a cream jacket, blue jeans and gloves.

It is strongly believed that he broke into the library hoping to find items of value as he had forced all the internal doors open before making untidy searches in the rooms.

A couple of the library's computers and the till had been smashed open. It is not clear if any money was in the till and has been taken.

If anybody saw or heard anything could they please contact Brentford SNT on 020 82475974 or by e-mail on Brentford.SNT@met.police.uk
