Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an attempted robbery from a cash-in-transit guard at Tesco in Syon Lane, Isleworth.

At 12:04hrs on Friday 17 July a suspect approached a cash-in -transit guard who was dropping off money bags at the shop. As the guard took the bag out of the van the suspect ran at him and attempted to grab the money bag. The guard was able to put the bag back into the van so that the bag was safe.

The suspect fled from the scene in a small red vehicle which he entered via a window and his legs were still hanging from the vehicle as it made off at speed.

The suspect is described as a black man, aged between 25-35 years, wearing jeans, a black hoody, black scarf, black trainers and black gloves.

No weapons were used and no arrests have been made.

DC Power of MPS Barnes Flying Squad said:
"Tesco is very busy on a Friday lunch time, several witnesses have come forward to assist police, but we need anyone who was in the area and saw the suspect either prior to the incident or when the vehicle made off to contact police. "
