Having been without a Post Office since 2019, Brentford town centre will have services restored next month.

A new branch is set to open at the Food Link Store, 204 High Street next door to the former Barclays Bank.

It will officially open on Thursday 16 September 2021 at 1pm.

Customers will access Post Office services at a low-screened, open-plan, serving point that’s part of the retail counter. The Post Office says that working with the postmaster, it plans to adapt the current store layout, fixtures and fittings to accommodate the Post Office till.

The Post Office is consulting residents about the internal layout of the new branch and you can click here to fill in a questionnaire that must be completed before 2 September.

The previous Post Office was closed due to the development of the south side of the High Street by Ballymore.

Local MP Ruth Cadbury credited organisations like Brentford Voice for the decision following their campaigning for Brentford to get a Post Office including starting a petition. The MP for Brentford & Isleworth also raised the issue of the lack of local provision in the House of Commons.

Until the new branch opens the nearest Post Offices to the centre of Brentford are nearly one-and-a-half miles away in Boston Manor, Isleworth and South Ealing.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
