There was significant traffic disruption on the A4 Great West Road this Thursday morning (8 December) after a car went up in flames.

The blaze took place by the bus stop in front of the GSK building on the eastbound carriageway.

London Fire Brigade attended the incident to douse the blue saloon car.

One eyewitness said, “The smoke was visible from beyond Gillette Corner and there were more than a few irate motorists stuck in the jam! The fire brigade had everything under control very quickly though and traffic was eventually able to get past while the firefighters continued damping down the smouldering wreck.

The fire caused substantial tailbacks during the morning rush hour.

There are no reports of any injuries at this stage.
