Leader of the Council, Councillor Steve Curran has extended his condolences to the friends and family of the deceased and the staff, following his visit to Lambert Lodge Sheltered Housing Scheme today.

He said: “We will wait for the police and fire department reports, however, I would like to express my sympathy to friends and family of the deceased and the staff at Lambert Lodge.”

Council staff are cooperating with the emergency services while they carry out their investigation and are working to support the other residents of the Lodge, who have been able to remain in their flats.

Part of a ground floor flat was damaged by fire and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers attended the fire. Fire engines from Chiswick, Heston and Acton fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 6.58am and the fire was under control at 0737.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
