A construction worker has died from a broken neck after being hit by a steel beam which fell from an articulated lorry.

35 year old Huges Makambila, who lived in East London, was walking past the lorry at 11.15am on June 5th outside the BSkyB building at Harlequen Avenue in Osterley.

Despite two ambulances and a helicopter attending Mr Makambila was pronounced dead at the scene.

An inquest will be carried out following investigation reports from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). A police investigation led by Det Sgt Purvis could result in manslaughter charges if any breach of regulations was a contributory factor in the tragedy.
