Resident of Castle Road in Isleworth have got together to turn their street into an advent calendar.

Each day in the run up to Christmas a new display has been unveiled with a range of unique designs from a disco house to the more traditional.

The idea for the display was hatched during a street party after the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Advent Windows event was conceived as a fun idea which would also support the fundraising efforts of residents.

It is supporting St Mungos, a charity which provides help to the homeless.

On their Justgiving page the residents say, “We are a close knit community who wanted to come together & do something fun this Christmas, something that would bring a smile to the faces of our TW7 neighbours (both young & old)!

“At the same time, we thought that this would be an ideal opportunity to raise awareness about the issue of homelessness, which affects tens of thousands of people across the UK & the excellent work that London-based charity St Mungo's are doing to help eradicate it.

“No matter how much you donate, we & St Mungo's are extremely grateful for your support and generosity. Please help us to end homelessness, rebuild lives & make this someone's last Christmas on the streets!”

Their efforts attracted the attention of the BBC and a TV crew was sent to film the street with a reporter interviewing the residents taking part live on the news. A snow machine was brought out to make the occasion even more festive.

Having already collected over £200, donations surged passed £800 after the report was broadcast.

As well as donating you can support Advent Windows by posting a photo of your favourite window on social media tagging @StMungos and using the #CRadventwindows2022 & #teamMungos.
