Thursday night saw a very well attended inaugural meeting of a new group with the working title of ‘BRENTFORD’S VOICE’ of local residents, who want Brentford to become a successful and attractive place to live, work, spend leisure time or run a business.

The common consensus was a belief that within our community there is an enormous reservoir of locked up imagination and energy for good which we want to release. The aim is to provide a platform for the community to get together to build a local movement for community empowerment of our people as an independent force with a strong local presence and an influential local voice.

Over the coming weeks we’ll create key values and themes as our tenets to aspire to and keep us on track, and more importantly we’ll also identify specific community issues of concern which we will support and engage with.

Once these have been identified and established it’s vital we work with ALL local amenity societies, groups, ward councillors in both Brentford and Syon, and LBH officers to improve channels of communication and engagement in an effort to promote and empower the work of local people in their communities and to influence local policy development.

If you want to become part of this exciting new group and help our community then do please come to our next meeting on Thursday, April 4, at a venue to be confirmed. In the meantime do please keep checking back on BrentfordTW8 for further updates, and if you have any questions or want to become part of Brentford’s Voice then do please email Martin Case at caseym@blueyonder.co.uk
