Recognition for growth as exports grow to over 40 countries
Brompton Bicycle is proud to have been named as one of the final 100 businesses and Ruban d’Honneur recipients in the 2013/2014 European Business Awards. Selected as one of ten finalists in the Import/Export category of the Awards, Brompton Bicycle will now go on to compete in the third and final round of judging; the 10 overall category winners will be announced at a Gala Event on 27 May 2014 in Athens, Greece.
Brompton’s Managing Director Will Butler-Adams said of the achievement: “Recognition like the Ruban d’Honneur is a milestone for how far we’ve come, having seen exports grow to 80% of the business in 25 years of full time production. We are a British business but Europe is one of our most important markets; I have to thank all of our distributing partners for their hard work in developing our brand.”
Of almost 400 initial entrants from around the European Union, public voting during the past two months resulted in 100 organisations being awarded the Ruban d’Honneur, with another 30 declared National Public Champions; all now go forward to undertake a face-to-face interview before a judging panel made up of European business and political leaders, academics and entrepreneurs.
Brompton Bicycle still makes bicycles in London and now exports them to 43 countries worldwide - including more than 20 in Europe. The company is proud to have been recognised for exceptional achievement in the Import/Export category and looks forward to impressing the judges during this final stage of the competition.
The European Business Awards connect the best in Europe across borders, business size and sector and celebrate excellence, innovation, entrepreneurship and best practice. The Awards highlight and promote examples of individuals and organisations that achieve outstanding results across a variety of disciplines – from environmental concern to customer focus – results that set them apart as leaders in Europe.
