Brentford Lodge League of Friends

The league was set up to support and encourage the excellent care provided at Brentford Lodge on Boston Manor Road - next to the Health Centre. The compassionate care of the Staff towards the clients and their families cannot be faulted and we are determined that this purpose built NHS facility should be retained. If you can help us in any way please do get in touch.

We are currently seeking voluntary support from fit local people and schools with the garden maintenance. Over the past three years the garden programme has been maintained by the pupils of Gunnesbury Boys School and St Paul's School Barnes working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Awards (photo Left). We are currently looking for more volunteers!

For the past few years we have organised Quiz/BBQ events to raise funds for specific projects ie garden furniture. Currently we are pursuing a way to provide additional Therapies for the clients at the Lodge.

We produce Newsletters each year and also participated in the inaugural Farmer's Market help on the Health Centre car park (pic below).

Brentford Lodge was opened in the summer of 1996 on the site of the old Cottage Hospital, to provide respite care for older people with mental health needs being looked after at home by friends or relatives and is available to all within the Ealing Hammersmith and Hounslow Health Authority ( West London Mental Health Trust- Hounslow PCT)

The unit of 10 beds offers holistic person centred approach to care with an emphasis on promoting independence and rehabilitation to people of 65 with a diagnosis of severe mental illness, dementia, complex or intensive mental health needs.
Brentford Lodge is staffed by a dedicated and specialist team of Nurses, Support Workers and an activity worker who work closely with Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Doctors, Community mental Health Nurses and Social Workers based at West Middlesex Hospital.
The team also enjoys close relationships with the Hounslow Branch of Alzheimer's Society.

Respite Care, is so necessary for the carers of people of dementia, is available for weekends, weeks or on a day care basis. Patients need first to be assessed via their GP's and the Community Mental Health Trust before they can take advantage of these facilities. The service provides opportunities for patients to maximise their abilities and strengths through a range of assessment and treatment plans including individual and group therapeutic activities. The staff acknowledge the central role of carers and families and aims to meet their needs as well as the needs of the individual patient.
