A share of the Mayor of London’s £30m Good Growth Fund for Boston Manor House and Park has been awarded to Hounslow Council.

The funding is shared across 33 projects with Hounslow Council receiving £490,000 for its ‘Community and Creative Catalyst’ bid to boost the local economy and bring people together.

The Mayoral funding will enable the creation of 14 designer-maker spaces for small businesses within the old service wing of Boston Manor House and will establish the ‘Arts Street Market’ for 70 stall holders as a ‘shop-window’ and meeting place for local and regional creatives. The Arts Street Market will act as a hub for our creative community providing retail opportunities, business support and networking opportunities.

The Good Growth Fund support will also enhance Boston Manor's workspace and delivery, ensuring high quality, well designed work areas to meet the needs of the local creative sector.

This project is an initial phase of the council’s larger strategy to strengthen the local creative ICT, digital and broadcasting sector, and will be complementary to the borough’s recent GLA Creative Enterprise Zone funding for ‘Great West Creatives’.

Boston Manor House is currently undergoing restoration works made possible by National Lottery players funding distributed through the Heritage Lottery Fund' to restore the house to its former glory. Visitors to the House will have an improved experience through better resources and displays depicting stories of the manor house and the people who passed through it over its 400-year history.

Cllr Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this funding to pump back into our local communities – who are at the heart of these ambitious and exciting changes. The Good Growth Fund grant of £490,000 will support the creation of new jobs while championing and nurturing the creative talent that we have in Hounslow.”

Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, Jules Pipe, said: “This is a great example of a project which aims to give Londoners of all backgrounds the opportunity to be actively involved in shaping how their city develops. The Mayor and I are committed to supporting ‘good growth’ by building a city where all Londoners have access to the same opportunities and I look forward to seeing the positive impact this project has in the future.”
