Brentford fans have sent a strong message to Hounslow Council by delivering over 5,000 letters, emails and postcards of support for the proposed Brentford Community Stadium in Lionel Road South.

This massive show of support for the project is a reflection of the plan’s community focus which aims to benefit the whole of Brentford and Hounslow and not just the football club. This is reflected in the 2,000 plus letters and emails, many from local people, in which many cited the Learning Zone and Community Sports Trust, which delivers projects in sport, health, education and social inclusion, among the reasons for supporting the development.

Brentford fans designed a ‘Wish you were here’ postcard with their reasons for support and invited supporters and local residents to complete them, resulting in over 3,000 postcards being sent to the Council. Many more fans wrote letters and emails setting out why a new Community Stadium in Lionel Road South was right for Brentford and Hounslow.

Richard Merritt, Chair of BIAS, who organised the postcard campaign, said: “There has been a lot of debate locally about the development, but the facts are that Brentford FC is a good neighbour and has drawn up plans with the community very much at their heart. With over 5,000 expressions of support the planning committee must stand up take notice and approve the new Community stadium.”
