A police officer has described the attitude of Brentford striker Ivan Toney as ‘rude and obstructive’ after his car was stopped on the A4 in Chiswick.

In a written report submitted to a hearing at Bromley Magistrates’ Court and seen by the Evening Standard, PC George Anckorn said that he pulled over Mr Toney after noticing possible infringements on his green G-class Mercedes SUV which reportedly cost £160,000.

The vehicle was subsequently shown to have dangerously tinted windows and an illegal personalised number plate after the stop which took place this 2 April.

The windows were found to be letting in just 5% of natural light on the driver and passenger side windows and the number plate IVAN 17 was not within DVLA rules.

The officer said that the 26-year-old star striker appeared not to care about the offences.

At a closed hearing last Thursday (15 December), at which Mr Toney did not appear or enter a plea, he was ordered to pay fines totalling £540, plus a £54 victim surcharge and £100 in costs as well as being given three penalty points on his licence.

Widely tipped to make the England World Cup squad after netting 14 times for Brentford this season, he is believed to have missed out due to being charged by the FA for over 200 betting offences.

Mr Toney has not replied to the Evening Standard’s request for comment.
