Everyman Cinema has signed a contract to open a new cinema according to spokesperson for the developer of the Brentford Project.

Richard Pearce, Senior Development Manager at Ballymore said this week, "We are delighted that Everyman have chosen to come to Brentford Waterside to act as our leisure anchor and we hope the Brentford community feel the same.

"I’m glad to confirm that we have now signed with Everyman Cinemas to come to Brentford Waterside. They are taking circa 11,000 sq ft, which will include 3 screens along with a bar and seating. They will be located below Lewis House and accessed via West Bradbury Yard as you walk between Rottura and Gails from the High Street. There will be a period of additional landlord works to make the unit ready for Everyman’s occupation in the summer. Following their fit-out we hope that they will open in the late Autumn 2024."

Everyman Cinemas tends to charge more for tickets than other chains but aims to offer a more luxurious experience with seats with armrests and tables and some venues offering in-seat dining service.

It has a reputation for showing more independent and classic films as well as live broadcasts of stage shows.

The original Everyman Cinema opened on Boxing Day 1933 in Hampstead and is still operating. It was threatened with closure in 2000 but was bought up by entrepreneur Daniel Broch who used the brand to launch a chain of boutique cinemas.

By September 2023 it had 41 venues in the UK with 141 screens with three new cinemas opening in the past year. Although it had traditionally expanded by refurbishing older cinemas, more recently it has been opening larger operations in developer-led complexes similar to the Brentford Project.
