At Age UK Hounslow's Annual General meeting held on the 27th September at Alexandra House, members received an update from the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Steve Barnes, on progress with relocation proposals.

St. Paul's School are likely to need to use the Alexandra House site to assist with their school expansion programme.  Age UK Hounslow have been working with Hounslow Council on alternative site options.  Options being explored are:

  • Montague Hall in Hounslow for activities and office base.
  • Green Rod Place, Claypond Lane, Brentford for activities
  • Shop facility, Brentford High Street
  • Griffin Park, Brentford Football Club for activities

Concern was raised by some members on the loss of the Alexandra House site which has been Age UK Hounslow's base in Brentford for many years.  Steve Barnes said due to the high cost of maintaining the building Age UK Hounslow would have needed to consider relocating even if the St.Paul's School did not need the site.

Some members welcomed the Montague Hall option as this meant Age UK Hounslow's services would, with the new Sandbanks facility Age UK Hounslow have in the west of the borough, have a better coverage for the east, west and centre of the borough.

Hounslow Council would invest some money to bring Montague Hall up to the specification needed by Age UK Hounslow.  We still have more work to do to finalise our relocation plan.  The timescale for the move would be March 2014.

A public consultation is currently underway about the proposed expansion of St Paul's CE Primary School into Alexandra House.
