A teenager has died on railway tracks in over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The 19-year-old man was found dead on the line near the footbridge by Strand on the Green School in the early hours of Saturday morning (20 April) between Chiswick and Kew Bridge Stations.

British Transport Police said, “‘Officers were called to Kew Bridge station at 00.37am on Saturday morning (20/04) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended but sadly a 19-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Residents in the Brooks Road area reported intense emergency service activity at the time. One local told Chiswickw4.com that there had been about eight police cars, four ambulances, a flat-bed truck and other units at the scene. One of his neighbours had reported a spark coming from the tracks just before the person was found dead at the scene, he said.

There were local reports that the victim was from the Barnes area but we have not been able to confirm. It has also been suggested that the victim might have unable to get a train and decided to walk home, becoming disorientated and wandering onto the tracks.
